Aluminum Phosphorus alloy modifier

 

Eutectic and Hyper-eutectic Al-Si series alloys are widely used phosphorus metamorphic treatment to meet the volume stability and high temperature performance requirements. The addition of red phosphorus, phosphorus salt, P-Cu, etc., but the densification effect are unstable, there are also the following shortcomings: red phosphorus low ignition point, unsafe delivery, the application of violent reactions, the emission of P2O5 toxic gas; phosphorus salt added to a large amount, corrosion of the furnace lining, pollution of the environment; P-Cu high melting point, difficult to dissolve, easy to segregate.

Based on current producing situation, we commercialize Al-P alloy and successfully promoted its application widely over engine piston producers.


 I. Application effect:

Compared with the traditional process (shown in Figure 3-1a,b), it avoids the emission of P2O5 toxic gas, combines alloying and densification treatment into one, simplifies the process, reduces energy consumption, and makes the melting and casting process environmentally friendly (Figure 3-1c,d).

Al-P alloy significantly improves the metallographic grade of Al-Si alloys and improve mechanical properties such as degree, wear resistance and bulk stability. The densification effect on the sub-eutectic Al-Si alloy is shown in Figure 3-2, which can make the primary crystalline silicon precipitate uniformly on the aluminum matrix. The refining effect on hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloys is shown in Figure 3-3, which significantly refines the size of the primary silicon from over 200um to less than 40um. The refining effect on hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloys for engine piston is shown in Figure 3-4.
