This whisker is micro-diameter with feature of anisotropy. It has superior chemical properties, thermal and electrical insulation properties. Aluminum Borate Whisker can be used for an reinforcing material in Al-metal, alloy, ceramic, glass and fiber etc. It also can be used for an additive in producing of high strength organic polymers, building materials, fireproof materials and invisible materials.<br />

1) Reinforcing agent in ceramic matrix composites:
It can enhance matrix’s impact strength, modulus of elasticity, hardness, and companding strength in ceramic and glass forming. It has been popularly in fields of cutting tools, precision ceramics, wear-resisting parts, astronavigation and military parts. Compared with Silicon Carbide whisker that reinforces ceramic matrix, Aluminum Borate fiber has higher toughness of anti-cracking while there are no prominent differences in hardness and density. So Aluminum Borate whisker has much higher value with competitive price.
2) In Applications of polymer materials:
That Aluminum Borate fiber mixes into Cyanate Ester resin can increase resins impact strength and bending strength.
3) In applications in Plastic reinforced materials: in particular, when it used for precision plastic parts, the forming body surface is very smooth, mold wear is small because diameter is small with short length.
4) Reinforcing agent in metals matrix composites (AL-): It can enhance the properties of metals when used for Aluminum-based matrix. It can also decrease macro-defects when this aluminum-based matrix are used for engines materials.
